The USDA has two new documents outlining proposed safety standards for fruit and vegetable farmers. These standards will hopefully eliminate future food related illnesses & deaths (remember the cantaloupe & peanut butter recalls).
The two documents are on the Federal Register’s site.
- Standards for the Growing, Harvesting, Packing, and Holding of Produce for Human Consumption
- Current Good Manufacturing Practice and Hazard Analysis and Risk-Based Preventative Controls for Human Food
